Give that exquisite epidermis of yours a makeover using your favorite foods au naturel. Try this DIY skin treatment that will make your skin glow on the outside and comfort your entire body on the inside. It’ll moisturize and nourish your skin to give you a gorgeous winter glow, and is literally good enough to eat! Feel free to lick this off your face.

Mega-Moisturizing Banana-Matcha Mask

Bananas are the whole package when it comes to natural skincare: they moisturize and hydrate skin thanks to their potassium content, and their vitamins A, B and E firm skin to smooth out rough, dry patches. They can even help dark spots and blemishes disappear! The raw honey in this mask acts as a natural antibacterial to clean out pores, and the matcha powder stimulates dead skin cells to get rid of dull, tired skin.

Ingredients

  • 2 bananas
  • 1 tsp of matcha powder
  • 1 tsp of (raw, local) honey (you can omit for a vegan version)

Preparation

Mash banana well with a fork until they’re smooth. Stir in matcha powder and honey until combined.

Apply half the mixture to your face, making sure to spread it out evenly. Let it sit for 10 minutes, then rinse off gently with lukewarm water. Follow with a splash of cold water to lock in the natural moisture.

Feel free to eat the other half as a snack for a sweet, natural boost of energy! If not, just halve the recipe as it won’t keep very long in the fridge.
